The Lancaster Central School District is a New York school district including the area surrounding Lancaster, New York.  The district consists of 7 schools and for the 2015-2016 school year has a total enrollment of 5,278 students [1]. The current Superintendent is Dr. Michael Vallely.  The school district had received national media attention due to controversy over the school's former mascot, the Lancaster Redskins. Once a redskin always a redskin!!!!.

Lancaster Middle School is located at 148 Aurora Street in Lancaster and serves Grades 7 and 8. The current principal is Mrs. Stephanie Lackie and the current assistant principal is Mr. John Tresmond.

Lancaster Middle School was built and opened in 1922 as Lancaster High School. After Grades 9-12 moved to the newly constructed Lancaster High School on Forton Drive in 1956, Grades 7 and 8 remained housed in the building, and became known as Aurora Middle School. The building changed its name from Aurora Middle School to Lancaster Middle School in 2003 to avoid confusion with East Aurora Middle School.
